IMPORTANT NOTE: Please do not download and register app earlier than a week prior to the event.

 

 

FollowMee uses your smartphone celular and GPS coordinates to triangulate your location and send it to their server where its published so that people on land can track your location and progress. 

 

The app is easily configured and switched on and off. 

 

The app is available for Apple, Android, Windows Mobile and Blackberry devices from the respective App stores. 

 

Initially the free version that you download will be restricted, however using the following details will enable the deluxe version that has all options enabled. 

 

 

Instructions:

1) Change your device name to your first name and surname so that you can be easily identified. 

 

2) Download and install the app: Do not start the tracker yet. You will be able to find the correct versin for your device here: http://www.followmee.com/Download.aspx

 

3) Go to settings and enter the user name: portphillipdw and password:downwind.

 

4) Start the tracker and wait 30 seconds for it to register your device and update your location. 

 

5) If the registration was successfull you should be able to go into the settintgs and make the following changes:

 

Set Track Interval: 1 Min

Power saving Mode: Low

GPS Timeout: 1 min

GPS Power: High

 

Recommended: configure the SOS panic button. This will help notify us if you are in trouble. Set this email address for notification: PPdownwinder@gmail.com. This email will be monitored during the event. Set the dialing number to 9525 5655. This will ring the The Zu. 

 

6) You can now go back and change your mobile device name back to anything you want. 

 

7) Keep the GPS off in the app as this will drain your battery. You are welcome to enable the GPS and view and share your tracks, as well as other peoples tracks if you happen to go sailing other times outside the event. 

 

8) Please keep your phone off on the day of the event until the start time. This will ensure thay you have plenty of battery time for the race.
